Metamorphosis Monday - Black Magic In A Can

I'm joining Susan from Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Mondy.

One of my favorite and must have decorating staples is spray paint. It's simply amazing what you can acomplish with can of spray paint. One of my favorite colors of spray paint is black, I call it "Black Magic In A Can".

Here is one of my magic spray paint projects. I found the fan at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. I knew the moment I saw it I had to have it, I never doubted myself for a moment. Didn't have a clue what I would do with it but I knew that for $4 I would figure it out.

Everyone who saw it told me not to paint it, they all thought it wouldn't look good if I did. But I didn't like the original color, it just looked so dingy and after some thought I realized the style is perfect for my bedroom. My bedroom is done in pink and black, so I decided to paint it a glossy black and the minite the paint hit the fan I knew I had made the right choice. Everyone who saw it afterwards agreed and were amazed at what stunning difference the paint made.
And this is where it lives now, over my bed.

I also bought the pink beaded pillow at GW for $3 and I made the pink and black pillowcases myself.

As you can probably tell from the picture this room needs a new coat of paint. I've given a great deal of thought to the color I want it to be. I like the pink and black color scheme but I don't like this shade of pink on the walls. I thought of going to a richer more rosy shade but last night it I had an epiphemy, I think the perfect color for these walls would be a light to medium dove grey.
I also plan to change out the collection on the shelving. The dolls where given to me by my son for Christmas, he would buy me a different one every year. The maker Geppeddo went out of bussiness before he finished buying the fairy tale dolls so I finished it out by buying the rest off of Ebay. I still love them and will keep them always but I want to freshen up the room a bit so I'm going to move the dolls to a new space in the house.

OMG... I'm in LOVE with that fan!!! WOW!!! Look at the detailing!! And it's just STUNNING in black, so bold and daring to constrast the softness and femininity of the 'lace' it creates! Gorgeous, and you did the right thing painting it black!
